Throughout life we will all, from time to time, experience some tough challenges. Counselling can offer a safe and encouraging environment to help us deal with these challenges and enable us to gain a deeper understanding of who we are and, most importantly how we can become the people we want to be.
People come to counselling for a number of different reasons - they may have suffered a loss, have relationship or health difficulties or be wanting space to explore issues that feel difficult.
We all have our own unique histories which will undoubtedly have shaped who we are today. Sometimes it feels right to challenge some of our behaviours so we can realise our potential for growth and development. Counselling can be a powerful tool to enable this process. I believe counselling should not only look at past events, it should also help guide us in the present to work towards a life that is more fulfilling in the future.
I understand that asking for help can be a big step and my approach is warm and empathic and respects the unique relationship that develops with each and every client. It is this sense of safety and trust that provides the right conditions to explore events that underpin our behaviours and perspectives and allow us to look at alternative ways of being.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
